The work-craft of Bookplate Ink is truly outstanding. They have produced several thousand bookplates for me over the years, and they are exactly what I was looking for. The work is consistently flawless, with attention to every detail–including the presentation in boxes for shipping. The quality of the paper and the adhesive, as well as the print, is unparalleled. The price is very fair, the shipping is fast, and the customer service is great. Thank you Bookplate Ink!

I found Bookplate Ink on the internet and quickly became friends with Karen. I described how I wanted the bookplate and provided a drawing of my grandfather much reduced from the original. Was not certain how the drawing would reproduce. I took Karen`s advice on the paper color, I selected the fonts and copy. She put it all together for me. The bookplates arrived yesterday and I am just thrilled with them! The drawing came out much better than I had hoped for and the paper color was perfect. Kudos to Karen and her crew!

I have never, ever been disappointed with these folks. Everything they’ve ever made for me has been fantastic! I highly recommend them if you want to have a truly great collection of treasured books!
Tricia Kelly
I was gifted a box of bookplates many, many years ago and was finally getting down to the last few. I checked the website and they were not listed so emailed them to see if the template was archived and could still be used. I was very glad that they were able to fulfill my order with the original bookplate print. Timely response, excellent quality and quick turnaround. I put these on my most treasured books.
Greg Seid
Gorgeous bookplates for our Embroidered Worlds Kickstarter supporters. Thanks for the quick turnaround and support! We couldn’t be happier.

Wonderful work! Done well and quickly! I will order more when these are used up! Thanks!

My husband LOVED his books.
Before donating his law library to friends, colleagues and his students, I wanted to include a bookplate in his memory. A graphic designer friend offered to help me. Then I found Bookplate Ink. Better than I imagined. Acid free archival and the perfect woodcut. Personal attention and superb quality.
Haydee von Sternberg
I discovered Bookplate Ink after failing to find a printer in the UK willing to make quality bookplates for me for book signings. It was a happy accident that I did. Bookplate Ink’s service is first-class, and the quality of both print and paper is outstanding. (I always use a fountain pen so I’m very picky about paper stock.) I also value the personal service Karen provides. I wouldn’t buy my bookplates anywhere else now.

I recently ordered some bookplates with Karen and the Bookplate Ink team, and I’m thrilled with the results. The quality of the bookplates are exceptional, and Karen has been amazing to work with. It was my first time ordering something like this and she guided me though the process very kindly and patiently, given I was submitting my own design. The results are perfect.
I’ll certainly be ordering more from Bookplate Ink, as their customer service is second to none.

Highest recommendation, appreciation and thanks to Bookplate Ink for the beautiful custom bookplates that I was so proud to give as a gift. There are so many lovely designs to choose from that can’t be found anywhere else. The Bookshelf design bookplate by Owen Wise I picked truly wowed the person who received the bookplates as a gift. Karen is lovely to deal with and very accommodating. Thank you Bookplate Ink!
Diane Ring
Very happy with my bookplates. From ordering to receiving, everything went smoothly. Thank you Bookplate Ink.
Carol Crunkhorn
Excellent job that add a special touch to books in my Library and assures that they come back to me when borrowed.
Robert Belding
I write historical novels that usually have some basis in Renaissance Italy, so I wanted a rococo-themed bookplate for signing and sending to my fans for the books they buy. Your custom bookplates are first rate, and the peel-and-stick adhesive was a major plus. Very high quality, for which I’m grateful. I’m really glad I found your site, thanks for the great work.

Top tier quality and design epitomize Bookplate Ink products. I will use no other purveyor of bookplates. Always of the highest quality.
Ted Crim
Beautiful and professional bookplates! HIGHLY recommend. We are an investment firm and used Bookplate Ink to send signed copies of our speaker/author’s book to our clients who attended our event. A+ service and product.
Laurie Barrett
My bookplates are gorgeous; exactly as I had ordered! We had a little glitch in the ordering process which was quickly and courteously resolved — Karen understands and provides excellent customer service. Bookplates are nowhere to be found anymore where I live in Canada, so finally finding Bookplate Ink online was a delight! I can and will highly recommend Bookplate Ink to anyone looking for bookplates either for themselves or as a gift. An enthusiastic Thank You!!
Mary Nestor
Thank you for the beautiful bookplates to honor the memory of my late sister. They are very special. Excellent communication and fast shipping. Very happy!
Christine Lass
I already left a testimonial a few years ago, but I just wanted to leave feedback, too, to tell you I’m still loving my Cat Atop Stack of Books bookplates. It’s become my signature among friends to whom I loan books, because they all knew my goofy little cat Kelley, who definitely IS the Cat Atop Stack of Books.
I love the high quality of your bookplates… well-made, high quality paper product, gorgeous artwork, and beautiful selection of illustrations.
I place a bookplate in each of my books as I finish reading them. I prefer to hand-write my name on it, rather than get the personalized ones, because of the personal touch. I also write on it the month and year I read the book.
Thanks for your Class A store, products, and customer service… and please don’t ever retire Cat Atop Stack of Books! It truly is my signature bookplate!
Jacqui Travis
I am absolutely delighted with my new bookplates and cannot wait to send them out to readers. Quality of both paper and printing is excellent. Many thanks for everything!
Linda Poitevin
Fantastic bookplates AND customer service! My original design had an error that I hadn’t even noticed and Karen made sure to reach out prior to printing to let me know. We got everything fixed and the finished product is great! Excellent communication, prompt service, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend.
Thomas K. Carpenter, www.thomaskcarpenter.com
I paused before opening the first box because I wanted the anticipation to last a bit longer. As soon as I slipped off the cord and removed the lid, I laughed with delight. The bookplates are absolutely charming. I love the illustration and the font. Now I’m anticipating the moment when I begin applying the plates. Then my books will be ready to move to my classroom, where, thanks to you, they will travel but always make their way home again. Thank you so much, Bookplate Ink, for your wonderful work.
Linda Bullock
I can’t recommend Bookplate Ink more highly! The designer of the bookplates for a book I authored went out of business. She turned over the design to me and said, “My printer is also out of business. Good luck in finding someone to print new bookplates.” A quick internet search led me to the marvelous Bookplate Ink. The quality of the plates is extraordinary. They are larger and therefore easier to use for dedications than the originals! The surface takes ink so much better than the originals! I also had made a mistake in ordering (marked “cream” instead of “white”) and with a simple email was assured that my bookplates would be white. Which, of course, they are. So for quality of product as well as ease of doing business, you can’t find a better vendor than Bookplate Ink!
Katherine James, actofcommunication.com
Absolutely loved working with Bookplate Ink and will use them again in the future. They did an amazing job working with the .psd file I provided and printing my new bookplate. I can’t wait to get them in the hands of readers now.
Jason Wrench, www.jasonwrench.com
I was excited to order personalized bookplates from Bookplate Ink, and they did not disappoint. Bookplate Ink helped me throughout the process. The order was well priced, and the end product is simply beautiful. It’s something I will cherish for a lifetime (although I may need to order more).
David Hopkins
We are always so pleased when our new order of bookplates arrive. Our bookshop is in New Zealand, and our customers love the large selection we can offer. Thanks to wonderful Bookplate Ink for excellent quality. Always a pleasure dealing with Karen.
Rebecca Jones, Scorpio Books
Loved the bookplate! Karen made these very special, her flexibility, professionalism, and willingness to work with me getting the plates just right is so appreciated. Would without reservation recommend her!
Debra Duncan
Bookplate Ink, and Ms. Karen Gardner in particular, did a spectacular job on a difficult bookplate. The image is of a painting that has a lot of subtle coloring to it, and Ms. Gardner was able to retain that subtlety, as well as situate the text precisely as I wanted it–not an easy task. In addition, she was gracious and efficient throughout. I could not be more satisfied.
Wm McAllister
Exceptionally nice custom-made bookplates. The proprietor of Bookplate Ink is a delight to work with.
Peter Cozzens
Bookplate Ink produced a beautiful bookplate to complement my new book. They shipped quickly and the quality was high. I’d definitely recommend this company to others!
Emily Mendenhall
Beautiful bookplates. Staff is efficient and responsive. The best part? They keep your information on file for years, so re-orders are easy.
L. Garrison
An out-of-town independent bookstore decided to carry my novel and asked me for 20 bookplates. I was thrilled! . . . but I didn’t have any bookplates. I placed an order here and it arrived quickly, in a beautiful little box. I’m very happy with the quality, speed, and customer service and will order from Bookplate Ink again!
Katy Yocom
Bookplate Inc, always honors my requests for slight alterations to the standard plates that I choose to give as gifts. Their willingness to customize and the quality of their product make these bookplates a great gift!
Cara McNeely
Ordered bookplates with custom art for book promotion. Came earlier than I expected and customer service was excellent and on top of the order. The bookplates look amazing. I’ll definitely be recommending Bookplate Ink to anyone in the market.
Zap Topping
Bookplate Ink customized and produced a really high quality bookplate for the launch of my book. They shipped in time for my book launch and I’ve received many compliments from recipients. I recommend this service to all authors navigating the publication of their first book.
C Fieseler
My new bookplates look fantastic! I ordered for the first time from Bookplate Ink, whose customer service and counsel about my original design was reassuring. Thanks for doing such a great job!
Eric K. Washington
The bookplates were exactly what we wanted, and they came in in record time. 100% will order from here again!
L Bonner
History professors accumulate a lot of books. Mine have been graced with the same personalized Bookplate Ink bookplate since the late 1960s. And now the latest order in 2022 is just the same and just as good. (Actually the newest adhesives are better).
Richard Hoffman
This was my first time ordering bookplates from Bookplate Ink., and I am thrilled with what I received! I ordered a set of 50 customized bookplates, and the quality is just incredible. I exchanged some emails with the Bookplate Ink. staff regarding my order and shipping questions, and they were so helpful and kind over email. (Shipping was rather quick, and well-packaged, too!). I will certainly be ordering more bookplates from Bookplate Ink. in the future. Thanks for a great product!
Chet Stussy
My order came in time for Christmas, and they’re perfect for the 14-year-old girl who’ll be receiving them. She often sits in an oak tree to read and Bookplate Ink had exactly the image to represent that. I know she’ll love these for years to come. Thank you!
Molly Jordan
I have now ordered twice from Bookplate Ink using my own designs. The bookplates were promptly prepared and sent to me within two weeks. The color, proportions, and appearance of the images and designs were perfect. Bookplate Ink made sure, via email, that I understood issues of size and proportion prior to printing and I have appreciated that. I could not offer a higher recommendation.
Henry Travers
I received my first order and I’m blown away! They are beautiful and my boys are going to be thrilled this Christmas. We are a big reading family and have over 3,000 used books on our shelves. Now I want to order some for me too! The packaging — boxes with a gold bow and little fuzz inside — such thoughtful touches.
Alana Rasbach
Just received my first order and couldn’t be happier. Customer service is terrific and the quality of the product incredible. Highly recommend this group to anyone interested in unique and well-executed design. First class all the way.
Sam Shamansky
Most adorable children’s bookplate I’ve ever seen. Quality is superb and service is impeccable. It was the perfect gift for a first-time grandmother. Thanks so much for your work.
Amy McPike
I ordered my bookplates under a month ago, with an expected wait time of 3 weeks. This ended up being pretty dead-on and I have the bookplates in hand and they look great. I went with a house design, but only because it really fit my personality. The bookplates were very well packaged, so they were not damaged in transit to me. The only drawback is my ability to place them perfectly in my books, but that is me, not Bookplate Ink.
Eric R.
I enjoy the beautiful craftsmanship of these bookplates in the library where I work, then I realized what an elegant gift they would be as well, in my case perfectly expressed by the Young Moderns designed by Benton Ferguson in the 1950s. I had fun researching the various typefaces and settled on Palatino — designed in 1948 — that Ferguson might have used. I had a lot of fun selecting these bookplates as Christmas gifts.
Nancy Stout
My recent order was perfect. You guys reached out to confirm/check some requirements, let me know how much more it would be for specific changes, and helped me make those over the phone. Less than a week later and I have all 600 bookplates. They look and feel amazing. Thank you for helping me connect my family to a piece of our past that was lost to us until now. I will be buying from you again in the future and recommending you to everyone I know who loves reading.
Baxter Sapp
I have about 4000 books and have been ordering bookplates from Antioch Bookplates and now Bookplate Ink for 50 years. I have used the gnome bookplate (B211) in both black and brown all the while in my personal library and the tree with roots around a book bookplate (B252) in my medical books. Although I am a physician, I only include MD after my name in the medical books and leave it off in the other books. I recently found an old box of the glue type gnome bookplates and have been licking and placing them in and they are still great! When I was in junior high and we were introduced to Edgar Allan Poe, I felt deprived since my house did not have a volume of Poe even though my father had a number of other books. Now, I have two grandchildren, ages 7 and 10, who live in a home with, alas, no Poe to be found. I plan to give both of them their own volume of his complete works and each will contain a personalized bookplate. I will hand-write an inscription in each book explaining my reason for such a gift. The bookplates, a boy reading under a tree and a girl reading under a tree, seemed just right for now. As usual, they are perfect. As the grandchildren get older I will give them each the other 49 bookplates and will hope we find them eventually ordering their own bookplates of their own choosing from Bookplate Ink. Thanks for your excellent work.
Gary Berger
Thank you for the fine quality non-personalized bookplates. I ordered these to send to a high school acquaintance who recently wrote and published a book about her experiences about growing up in Oklahoma. She can now return an autographed plate for my copy! Just beautiful.
Suzanne Butt
This was my first order from Bookplate Ink, but it won’t be my last. I appreciated the kind email they sent to clarify a point and the high quality work they delivered.
Joseph Sherrill
I am an author who needed bookplates for a very important opportunity, and I had a tight deadline. Bookplate Ink delivered my non-customized bookplates quickly. They also personally followed up with me and provided the tracking number so that I knew when the package would be delivered. I am very pleased with their service.
William Preslaysa
I love the bookplates I ordered for signing books for buyers who aren’t local. They perfectly reflect the Sean McPherson novels — rugged and outdoorsy in the Pacific Northwest.
Laurie Buchanan
The bookplates, C102, are a splendid addition to the copies of my first baseball fiction work “Twin Bill.” They give a special touch to each gift book sent. Great job.
Mike McSorley
My first purchase from Bookplate Ink was to honor my dearly departed black cat (B212). The quality is so wonderful that I returned for more, two boxes of the “books by open window design.” What a great and lovely way to personalize those literary treasures! My second order from Bookplate Ink was B253 (Books by Open Window), a wonderful way for me — and my book — to look out on the world and gain a bit more wisdom. Very fine product, very fine company.
Debra Milligan
I discovered a much tattered box of bookplates I was given as a child. I had saved them “for special” and avoided using them. Now that I’m 52, I’m trying to use the things I’ve saved back for some special day or use. I tracked down this site from the box and ordered more bookplates in both my maiden and married name. I plan to affix them to adorn my favorites books with them till I have nothing but small empty boxes. Many thanks.
Amy Witzke
I drew a highly personal design for my bookplate, and Karen and Bookplate Ink executed it efficiently and carefully. It looks beautiful studded through my personal library.
Niharika Russell
Bookplate Ink is fast, efficient and affordable.
Nelson Johnson
My experience with Bookplate Ink was terrific. They were fast, efficient, and courteous. I’ll definitely use them again.
Cheryl Malone
Forced by the pandemic to hold a virtual book launch, I turned to bookplates as a means of signing books safely and economically [since that avoids having to ship each book twice.] Bookplate Ink delivered attractive, customized bookplates ahead of schedule. I’m delighted with their service and the bookplates themselves.
Doug Norton
I’m a kids book artist/author and this was my first experience with BookplateInk — the printer came highly recommended (and Instagram posted) by a few writerly friends of mine. It was also my first time creating a bookplate and I naïvely began sketching “from the hip” without researching die-cut stickers vs. bookplate template sizes (Problem #1). There was also an issue with a particular blue I used; it inexplicably dropped out in the final printing (Problem #2). The first was my doing, the second, Printing Process Gremlins (we never got to the bottom of the color problem). But I’m writing this review becaue my contact, Karen, was incredibly accommodating and immediately offered to print an entire second batch, keeping a close eye on “The Case of the Disappearing Blue.” She held my hand all the way and worked with me to #1, get the size right, and #2, create a color-perfect second batch. So caption this testimonial, “Highly Recommended!” Thank you again Karen and company.
Ted Enik
I have nothing but great things to say about my experience with Karen and Bookplate Ink. I placed an order around the holidays, fully anticipating that my order would not be fulfilled until after the “Christmas Rush”. To my surprise, my order arrived well before the holidays.
Additionally, I had placed an order that would not have been very visually appealing (due to the size of my personalization and the font that I chose). Karen called to alert me to this potential conflict and queried how I wanted to resolve the issue. I told her that I would trust her to make the best decision on my behalf and that I would trust her. As I expected, my bookplates turned out beautiful. Karen knows what she is doing and will work to make sure your order design will stand the test of time.
Truly a pleasure working with Karen and rest assured, I will return as my library increases in size.
Barrett Shoults
I have always loved reading books. I love the smell of the paper and the look and feel of the pages. As a consequence, I have a collection of books I acquired over the course of a lifetime. I always wanted to add a personalized bookplate to some of the more treasured volumes; however, a bookplate is a “forever” thing to do to a book, and I never came across a design I wanted permanently glued into my books until I saw one of your designs (actually several) that I really liked. Your bookplates are made with archival grade materials and you offer a selection of font and ink choices that actually complement the design, so I ordered a box. Wow! I have been absolutely blown away by the quality of the bookplates, and will be recommending Bookplate Ink to anyone who will listen. Thanks!
Joe Murrey
Due to Covid-19 restrictions many author events have been cancelled, making signing books difficult — even during virtual book launches. After looking all over the internet, I found Bookplate Ink. After a conversation or two, I ordered “autographed by author” bookplates which had an image of my book cover and still left plenty of room for me to sign. This way I can send my readers an autograph for their book.
I really cannot thank Karen enough for all her patience and assistance in designing the bookplate. She knew exactly what I needed. Thank you.
PJ Braley
Lovely work. Thank you.
Michael Meguid
I am an English PhD with a large collection of books that are very special to me. I wanted to have a custom bookplate made with a detail from a piece of artwork that I own. The people at Bookplate Ink were extremely helpful. They helped me with the design and recommended I get in touch with the artist to get his permission (which was the right approach). They ultimately produced a beautiful bookplate that I will proudly put in some of my most important possessions.
David Weiss
My grandson lives in The Netherlands. I wanted to find a way to be “with him.” So I put a bookplate in every book I send him. I hope that many years from now he’ll see them and think of how much I miss him.
Donna Hutchinson
My parents gave me the gift of a love of reading, which I have hopefully paid forward to my now-grown children. Many years ago (over 40) my mother gave me a box of bookplates which I still have and use. I recently loaned one of my books to my oldest daughter who called me especially to speak about my bookplate, which is one of your designs with two Ural owls. Coincidently I had located your website not long before that phone call. So, I found a perfect bookplate that completely captures the spirit of my daughter and had them customized for her. She was so happy; and so am I, with your prompt and professional service!
Corris Pinette
Just like the ones I ordered over 40 years ago – except that these were, thankfully, self-adhesive!
Ross Wilson
Perfect, as always! Every box of bookplates is consistently done with masterful artistry.
Tricia Kelly
I have used Bookplateink.com for nearly two decades. I have used them for my personal library, for books that I give away (so they know who gave them the book and why. I have also given bookplates to our grandson and granddaughter for a Christmas gift. That was a real treat! The staff at Bookplate Ink will work closely with you to get the bookplates you want
Delmar Gillette
The bookplates came out perfect. Karen was easy to work with and very responsive. She assisted with choosing a font, sizing, and text placement on the bookplate. She made the minor adjustments I requested after seeing the proofs. The price was very reasonable. We were happy to get a bookplate that is easy to tape into the book.
Mark Richman
Thanks so much for doing such a great job on my recent order and customizing one of your stock bookplates. I’m using the bookplates for virtual signing for the launch of my novel Blackhorse Road. From the bookplate itself to the beautifully designed box with a gold tie, everything screams quality and class! I will be using Bookplate Ink for all future virtual book signings.
Merida Johns
[Note from Bookplate Ink: This bookplate is design H101, but with changes made to have room to sign the bookplates underneath the artwork.]
My mother is a librarian, and when going through donation boxes, found bookplates with a tree on them, thought of me and saved them for me — just as she does with book donations she thinks I’ll enjoy. I have many, many books and so I looked for those bookplates so I could put them on the rest of my books that she’s lovingly saved for me over the years. I was so excited that Bookplate Ink carried them and that they have sticker backs rather than the glue that needs to be wetted!
Avery Breakell Demick
I have ordered two different bookplates (one non-personalized and another customized) and both are beautiful. I’m an author whose book has come out during the covid crisis and Bookplate Ink has allowed me to sign and say thank you to those who purchased the book. Thank you for being so accommodating, supportive, and helpful.
Jill Watts
[Note from Bookplate Ink: This bookplate is design W26, but with changes made to have room to sign the bookplates underneath the artwork.]
My box of bookplates arrived at my home in France only 11 days after I ordered them [non-personalized with rush service] and I am delighted. They are classy and classic and sober and perfect for signing and sending to the readers of my latest book, Final Transgression. I would recommend Bookplate Ink to anyone, especially authors who are deprived of book tours these days but can still sign their books for readers. I appreciate the personalized and pleasant customer service and am already thinking about the next bookplates in your wonderful collection that I will order. Thank you!
Harriet Welty Rochefort, Paris, France
My father collected a library of 300 Heritage books over a period of 30 years. I am donating them to various retirement communities, and wanted to honor his memory with bookplates. Now I can say goodbye to the books I grew up with and feel like his collection will honor his memory. The bookplates are beautifully designed by Karen Gardner, who sent me three design options. The experience was better than I expected. I would recommend Bookplate Ink to anyone! I think you could do a better job of publicizing on your website the fact that you give personalized attention to each customer. Amazing in this day and age.
Pamela Twiss
I love my bookplate. I am planning on installing one of those little lending libraries full of children’s books this summer. The bookplate is for all the books that will go into my little library that will be filled with seeds, gardening books for children and other beloved children’s story books. The dandelion bookplate is perfect! The dandelion offers herbal root remedies, greens for salads, and the blooms for dandelion wine (for adults only). What a wonderful bookplate!
Mary, Dayton, OH
Very nice! A good selection of designs to choose from and my order was handled in good time. The workmanship is excellent and I am very pleased. Thank you!
Martin Potter
Karen was a true delight to work with. She took a personal interest in my order, adjusting the lettering to make it pop, and expediting the printing and shipping. I’ll be using the bookplates to honor and memorialize my departed wife as I give her books to her favorite friends. It wasn’t until I started applying the bookplates that I found an old bookmark and realized why I had chosen the design: our favorite bookstore long ago used the same logo of the Antioch cat on a stack of books! Thanks Karen and Bookplate Ink.
Steve Corbin
I have just received my order. I ordered owl bookplates for a friend because she loves owls and books. I do too so I ordered some for myself as well. The bookplates are beautiful!
Before I completed my order I happened to see the dandelion bookplate (design W26). They have always been my favorite flower. I added them to my order and I couldn’t be more happy with them!
Susan Aydinian
Received my bookplate and love, love, love it. Karen saw a few things that might look better if I made some changes, they worked out much better. She made sure to verify the final sample before printing to make sure I was happy. I am very happy. Definitely recommend their services. Thank you, team.
Margery Greene
In the midst of COVID-19, Karen and the team at Bookplate Ink stepped up to help our publishing house maintain a virtually seamless relationship with our authors who needed to sign bookplates for various accounts from their home. As our needs shifted with the developing news, Bookplate Ink adapted and accommodated all of the changes in our order swiftly and with great enthusiasm.
At a moment’s notice, Bookplate Ink worked nothing short of a miracle to fulfill our orders. Excellent service for an excellent product — we are beyond pleased.

Circa 1977 I bought a box of the ex libris bookplates in a bookstore in Yellow Springs, Ohio. They were running low the last few years, and I became more parsimonious in their application. Now that the coronavirus is stranding many of us, a search online led to your current site. I’ve written a book entirely in brown ink, and the bookplate I just bought from your company is a close match. These have brought me great delight, occupying my time as I put them into books I’ve bought over the years.
Roger N. Kirkman
I’ve been using this service since 2011. Reliable and affordable!
Will Murray, author of Doc Savage series
I was given design E176 (from Antioch) by my Latin tutor 55 years ago when family was leaving the USA to return to England. I bought a further supply for myself from Bookplate Ink a short while ago. Now I have given the same design to my grandson on his 12th birthday as he is starting middle school and is into books. He thought they were “cool” and went straight upstairs to put one in each of the Harry Potter books I gave him last year.
Thank you again for carrying the Antioch designs forward.
Chris Walters
I ordered custom bookplates with my original artwork for an auction of rare vintage books. I needed to be sure the bookplates are archival, so the recipients will feel at ease to place them in their books. The quality and customer service are great. With a rush order, it took less than a week to receive them. Thanks to Karen for all of her help!
Katherine Busby
I just received my beautiful bookplates and couldn’t be happier with them! They are of such high quality and will be perfect for signing books from afar for readers who want that personal touch. Great service too! I will be re-ordering in the future.
Leigh Riker
I have purchased bookplates from this firm more years than I care to count. Both product quality and service have always been excellent.
Lawrence Hazelrigg
I just received my first order from Bookplate Ink and I am thrilled! The bookplate looks so lovely in my books. I also had a question about my order and shipping and I quickly received a reply. I think the most difficult aspect of ordering is knowing which design to choose! What a treasure this company is!
Doris Bruce
I needed a way to customize a message for the readers who purchase my book and I can’t sign it directly. Creating a bookplate that I can personalize, sign, and send in the mail is a great way to do this. The bookplates are high quality and work with many types of pens.
Heather Martinez
I couldn’t be more delighted! First of all, I was contacted because there was a question about the type I was using and they double checked with me .. and then sent samples of how it would look with different options. That was above and beyond. The bookplates themselves are beautiful.
Bonnie Kellogg
I have been getting my bookplates from here for quite some time. They are always crisp and sharp and quality-made. I have a quirky collection of books, and my bookplates go right along with it!
Tricia Kelly
I hunted high and low for bookplates in England, but in vain. Bookshops seldom offer them and eventually I went online and hunted around there. I cannot describe my joy when I found exactly what I wanted with Bookplate Ink. The cherry blossom image is utterly divine. I was a bit wary about ordering something from the States but I need not have worried. Within a few weeks the bookplates arrived and I went into raptures. They were beautifully packed and had no damage in transit. What also impressed me was the fact that the colour of the finished item perfectly matched the colour on the website. Applying these bookplates to my not inconsiderable library is giving me great joy. Congratulations to all of you at Bookplate Ink.
Paul Sealey, England
As a librarian at a busy middle school library, my principal noticed the number of books that I was adding to the collection from my own funds. While I was able to make a case that the books were donations, I was asked to add a notification that I had donated the books. I was quite anxious about finding an English bookplate that could be delivered to Switzerland that would be appropriate. The finished product is lovely and perfectly captures the whimsy and engagement I hope students will feel when they borrow one of these books. The plates came in a timely manner and arrived in perfect condition. Thank you for your professionalism and artistic talents!
Beth Dawson, Switzerland
The bookplate (Spitzweg’s Bookworm) is perfect. I purchased one set without my name and a second set with my name for a couple of reasons. Both are tasteful, of superb quality, and have the feel of the kind of library I imagine myself to have. I’m still concerned about including my degrees with my name but was urged to do so, and given the style and my private use it was a good decision. I first saw the bookplate when I purchased an old two-volume set. I was thrilled to see the Bookworm design — a full-size copy of the painting hangs in my study.

Our church is donating books to a local elementary school and we wanted to put a bookplate in each book donated. I found a perfect bookplate and Bookplate Inc. prepared the pre-printed bookplates exactly to our specifications. Members are very pleased and the Principal at the school is pleased with our selection. Thank you!

I was looking for a way to memorialize my late husband. He had been a bookseller, a collector and a lover of books his whole life and when I was going through his papers I came across an Antioch bookplate from the 1970’s that was a black and white image of a gnome. I found your marvelous company on the Internet and you were able to reprint that bookplate with the words “Donated in loving memory of John Rosenberg 1949 to 2018.” I have since used all the plates, and donated books in John’s memory to libraries, schools and retirement homes here in the Toronto area. Many thanks for your great service. What a pleasure it has been dealing with you.

My son is an avid reader and we are holding his 21st birthday party in a beautiful heritage library in the center of Sydney, Australia. Invitations are vintage books carefully and individually selected for each of the invitees. The generic invite is a bookmark. A bookplate will be placed in each book to individualize the invitation. I scoured the web for a supplier and was so pleased when I came across Bookplate Ink. My experience with them was fantastic. I received the bookplate in Sydney, Australia, within a couple of weeks of ordering, which went well beyond my expectation. The attention I was given during pre-order process was second to none. The speed of the order and then delivery was amazing. Finally, the bookplates look beautiful and are exactly what I had envisaged. Thank you, Bookplate Ink, and especially thank you to Karen, who was so helpful and patient through the process.

My plates are beautiful, exactly how I designed them, and they actually rushed a rush order, which I’m grateful for. Can’t wait to start using them!
Megan Derr
I absolutely love my bookplates! They are beautiful and so professionally done. This is the second time I’ve ordered from Bookplate Ink and both times I’ve been more than happy with the results.
Laura Hartless
This was my first experience with Bookplate Ink and my expectations were met and surpassed. The quality of the paper, the printed image, and the self-adhesive are superb. I certainly will be buying from them again when I make a design of my own.
Rodolfo de Curtis
My father collected a library of 300 Heritage books over a period of 30 years. I am donating them to various retirement communities, and wanted to honor his memory with bookplates. Now I can say goodbye to the books I grew up with and feel like his collection will honor his memory. The bookplates are beautifully designed by Karen Gardner, who sent me three design options. The experience was better than I expected. I would recommend Bookplate Ink to anyone! I think you could do a better job of publicizing on your website the fact that you give personalized attention to each customer. Amazing in this day and age.
Pamela Twiss
On a scale from 1 to 10, I have to award an 11!! Beautiful bookplate, great communication, & fast service!! Thank you!
Michael Cottingham
Just received my supply of new bookplates, pleasantly surprised by the self-adhesive (it’s been a while). Quality is superb. I love the elegance of these plates – had this pattern 50 years ago!! Well worth the price.
Gene Supparits
My first experience with Bookplate Ink began in 2001 when I ordered bookplates for a charitable foundation created to help with financial literacy. Over the next 15 years we re-ordered approximately three times to keep up with the demand for the books we were donating.
I am now retired and working part-time and want to be able to continue to donate books to charitable groups, family and friends. I just received my first order and everything about it, as was the case in 2001, was perfect. The design, the service, the delivery and, most importantly, the quality.
Thank you, Karen, for being my “supplier for life.”
Brian McCoubrey
I have used the bookplate “Man on a Ladder” shelving books for 45 years, and just now – for the first time – ordered it with my name printed on it. I love my bookplates and so do all those who borrow and read my books. Thank you, Bookplate Ink.
Kristine Stiles
One of the wonderful things that we’ve experienced about the bookplates is that they can be signed at a signing and taken to a friend who couldn’t make the signing. Often that’s an ill relative, someone with a small child, or someone who lives in a remote region. It’s very touching to see and hear how this impacts people and they very much admire the bookplates, not just for design but the quality. I’ve seen them in books that have been heavily read and they wear so well and still look handsome after a lot of handling. And as books and paper people, we are always delighted when it’s someone’s first experience encountering a bookplate! Seriously… is there anything better than bookplates or stationary? I have quite a fondness for them. Since we are ordering them by the hundreds these days I hope that we are raising the trend on them.

I worked closely with Karen Gardner of Bookplate Ink in making a personalized bookplate with a logo. She is an exemplary collaborative printing artist — hardworking, conscientious, highly proactively communicative, and effective. We collaborated to use a custom logo I designed over thirty years ago for “branding“ my plastic and reconstructive surgery practice. It has tremendous sentimental value, so I decided that as a bibliophile and collector of rare books, I would have my own personalized bookplates. To say that I am ecstatic with my final design and appearance of the bookplates is an understatement. Thank you for your wonderful efforts and results!

The book plates for our garden club member/retired librarian who has organized our club’s library for many years just came. I cannot wait to present them to her. I know that she will love them, since she ordered the same style many years ago for the club. Karen Gardener was very responsive and made sure everything was perfect. Thanks, Karen!
Peggy Marchesani
Ordered these for myself years ago and LOVE adding them to my most treasured books. Just ordered a set for our nanny who is an avid reader – they came out perfect! A great gift for anyone – even yourself!
April Cote
I sweated my bookplate design to the point of headache. I had the first version printed, then stopped halfway through pasting them into my library, changed my mind, redesigned it, and had Bookplate Inc. reprint a second version. It seems like such a permanent, important thing to get right. Both versions, in spite of my own revisionist tendencies, were spot-on in terms of color fidelity, and the self-adhesive backing is a huge time saver; especially if you, like me, decide to do things twice.
Christopher Winters
We ordered customized bookplates as one of the rewards for our Kickstarter project. They are absolutely gorgeous! We are so impressed with the quality, as well as how fast the order was received. We are equally impressed with the warm, professional service provided by Karen Gardner, who is absolutely delightful. We are excited to be shipping these to our fans from all over the globe. Thank you so much!
Jason Ott, Grandiloquent Word of the Day
Bookplate Ink repeatedly offers terrific value for customized bookplates that I send to my readers. For the past several years they have been the only bookplates we use. Thanks for making me (a customer!) feel like family.
Ridley Pearson, author
I received my recent order much sooner than I expected and was delighted that I got it so quickly since I did not have any bookplates left from my previous order. I am a bona fide bibliophile and really like to put one in every book that I have. I think of them as a way to show the value of what I have been fortunate enough to obtain and read. Books are real treasures and a bookplate reflects this in a marvelously visible way.
Thanks for making all this possible!
Rev. Jack D. Jordan
Thanks for the beautiful bookplates, which I use to send signatures to young fantasy readers interstate and overseas. The service you provide is such a wonderful one!

Customers writing after receiving non-personalized bookplate orders:
Delighted with your responsive service and outstanding follow-up. We use non-personalized bookplates as a little “thank you” for our customers, and the quality is excellent — your great product makes us look good!
—Toni Horvath, Wizard Marketing
I was 14 when I bought my first set of bookplates from Antioch. Recently, I came across my old box of bookplates; not only was I thrilled to have found them, I was also reminded of how special they were to me and to my beloved books; so I ordered two new boxes. I am an English professor now and your bookplates grace every single one of texts – both for school and home. I know every single book that I lend out can find its way back home – thanks for keeping alive a sweet memory!
–Sioux Patashnik
Great service, great products, fair prices & fast shipping. Satisfaction guaranteed! I can’t recommend Bookplate Ink highly enough. They’re the best!!!
—Brian Quast
I was so happy to receive my order. Nice card stock and beautiful way to document my books. Thank you.

Bookplate Ink is the perfect successor to the revered Antioch Bookplate Company of Yellow Springs, OH. Having used Antioch bookplates for my massive, personal library for decades, Bookplate Ink has updated the older designs and fonts, but not the service. Karen Gardner and her team at Bookplate Ink could not be kinder, more helpful, or more willing to offer artistic suggestions. No one but Karen will honor the “real” books (ink on paper–no batteries required) in the next generation of my book collection.

When I decided to buy book plates for my growing book collection, which includes two books illustrated by Rockwell Kent who is my favorite, I looked around quite a bit. I am glad to say that I chose the right company. Not only did you have a Rockwell Kent, but the design. the printing. the quality and ease of use are all perfect. I would gladly recommend you to any book lover.

My grandson, Andrew Lovato-Needham, is a recognized National Latin Scholar in the ninth grade! In a long family tradition we are creating his personal library for him, formalized with your fine bookplates. Beautiful work!!!

This was copy of my mother’s bookplate when she was a child as a gift to her great grandchildren. A nostalgic memory… so glad Bookplateink had it… Now considering more as gifts…
Charles Daschbach
Bookplate Ink is simply the ONLY place to go for bookplates. We have a very simple bookplate for Waite Library and always just reorder from Karen Gardner. Fast, personal, excellent quality and excellent service. I still have the bookplates given to me as a child but think perhaps it is time for a new design, for my second half-century of loving books.

I have ordered from Bookplate Ink for many years, and have never been disappointed. The quality of the bookplates has been uniformly superb, and I have never had a faulty bookplate. I recently changed the design for my bookplates, and the new ones are even lovelier than the former ones, if that is possible.
In a world where so many things are shoddily-produced and service is an unknown concept, Bookplate Ink is a bright beacon that lets me know that some important things still matter. Thank you!
Ann Marie Walker
Bookplate Ink has always done a wonderful job with any bookplates we’ve asked them to design! They are professional, friendly, and are committed to customer service and satisfaction. We are definitely going to order with Bookplate Ink again!

I am so pleased, for many reasons. The bookplate I ordered for my niece — curious black cat on a stack of books — is the very one I had as a child. This is a wonderful company. Karen and I further communicated about something that was a mystery to me. I have a 1st edition “Out of Africa” book that contains a rare bookplate design with my grandparent’s name. I have been looking for this bookplate design for a long time…. I showed an image to Karen, and she responded that the image is in Bookplate’s archives, and that she will be able to create. I am beyond thrilled. My new plan regarding the task of finding the right gifts for people has been made easier. I will be ordering many bookplates for friends and family from here… and thank Bookplate for it’s fine artistry and care, and wonderful customer relations.
Nora Wright Chilcott
What a great experience with Karen’s personal touch. The bookplates were exactly what we wanted and she could not have been more fun (and professional) to work with. I’ll certainly recommend this business to others. Bookplates were absolutely what we wanted and delivery was timely. Thanks Karen. Bill loved them.

I finally was able to have exquisitely professionally produced bookplates from a design of my own, reflecting some of the personal spirit I wished to impart to my books. Many, many thanks to the people at Bookplate Ink!
Ricardo Marques, Brazil
I had seen these designs via Etsy.com and contacted Karen about a special order (a different size) with the Book Tree design. I fell in love with this Book Tree design and it looks just as great in person on my bookplates. I was very pleased with Karen’s friendly, professional, helpful, and immediate responses to my inquiries. She walked me through all of the options and turned out a fantastic product that I cherish. Thank you so much!
Monique V., College Place, WA
I loved the bookplates I received when I was a little girl from my aunt and uncle. So I now give bookplates as gifts. This year I splurged and bought a set for each of my adult children with their names on them. Each plate captures something each child will enjoy. They will be very special Christmas gifts. The service and quality are wonderful. I will order again.
Alice Temming, Ohio
Karen was able to take the image provided and create a lovely look and feel. Subsequent orders were a breeze as were bookplates for my children as well. A truly exceptional service for a hard to find product! Thanks!
Mike Knapp, Alexandria, Virginia
Our bookplates are beautiful, a wonderful way to memorialize and honor our parents and their library, which so beautifully represents their love of beauty, art and intellectual curiosity. Thank you, Bookplate Ink, for helping us to do this.
Alden Murphy, Connecticut
Bookplates may seem antiquated to most of us 21st centurions but they are purrrrfect for grandchildren who delight in seeing their names on their favorite books. I now send them packs of 20 to add to their gifts for friends. The personal touch is still popular as it always has been. I am glad Bookplatesink is still providing this happy tradition with children themed plates. Thanks lots!
LC, Barrington, RI
I was hoping to be able to get more of a bookplate I’d purchased years ago, and, not finding it, sent a query. The resulting assistance was phenomenal, they were able to locate the old artwork, and the new bookplates are quite wonderful — including the new self-adhesive backings. All around, a great experience and true example of genuine customer service and care.
Philip Sawyer, Boston, MA
My rush order for bookplates was completed quickly, and I’m very happy with the quality! Thank you, Bookplate Ink!
Janine Bajus, Berkeley, CA
Bookplate Ink was fast and accommodated all my requests for such an odd shaped custom bookplate. I will use them again for my next bookplate design. The price is cheap and the product is perfect. Thank you!
Tod Leaven, Asheville, NC
Excellent product and service.

I was re-ordering for my father, who’d placed his original order 12 years ago. In order to make an exact match, Dad sent along a PDF, which I e-mailed–I was pleasantly surprised to get a prompt, helpful response. My thanks to Karen Gardner for her attention to detail: she saw to it that the order was a perfect match!
Chip Howell, Charlottesville, VA
My Bookplates were absolutely beautiful. I have been applying them to special books and publications I have shared with friends and families for more years than I can remember. I constantly get feedback of gratitude for making the gift special to them and they ask about the bookplate and its significance. A wonderful thing to keep people linked over the years.
James Queen, British Columbia
Great to find the bookplates available online – classic, newer, customized. Service was quick and communication warm. What a great rediscovery and gift item!
Jane Blakelock, Yellow Springs, OH
I hadn’t even thought about getting bookplates until my editor mentioned the possibility about a week before the release of my first novel. I did the design myself–a simplified version of the image on my book’s cover–and put in a rush order so the bookplates would be ready before Christmas. They arrived way more quickly than I expected; I paid for regular mail, but they seem to have been sent priority, and they turned up in my mailbox the day before release. They look great, and the teeny little boxes in which they come are a nice touch. I’ll definitely be back.
Kari Maaren
Excellent personal service, exceptionally good value, and very high quality bookplates that my readers really appreciate. You get a tailored service and exactly what you ask for, right down to the Pantone. I think this must be my third or fourth order – I wouldn’t have bookplates made anywhere else now.

This was my second order and I made one change which Karen accepted graciously and created a special bookplate that mirrors the character of our museum’s library collection. A great on-line shop to do business with and get prompt service and shipping.

Karen at Bookplate Ink magically transformed a painting of my sailboat into a beautiful full color customized bookplate. I was delighted to find that once the customized layout was finalized for the first order, it is fast and easy to reorder additional bookplates. Thank you, Karen, for your attention to detail and amazing bookplate products.
Bob Betts, Sandpoint, Idaho
I want to thank you for the very beautiful, elegant and functional custom-designed bookplates on a quick turn around. They were perfect for my very frenzied conference. I received much credit for being very clever and professional when really the bookplate was the fix for a book with black shiny pages throughout. However, from now on, I’ll always have a bookplate made for the books I write because it made it a lot faster to sign books. Thanks for the tip about adding my website.
Paula Nadelstern, The Bronx, NY
Awaiting my homecoming yesterday was the delivery box from Bookplate Ink. They look fabulous! The boxes they come in are so very sweet and attractive that I know my client will be bowled over by the bookplates themselves and their packaging. Thank you again for all your help along the way with my custom design. Your product is exceptional.
Sincerely, Jackie Calderone
This is the third bookplate that Karen has designed specifically for our school and we have been very pleased with them, especially after shopping around at length. We have felt very strongly about using this kind of large, special bookplate, believing that it enhanced the image of the program at our school and added to the prestige of donating to our media center.

Book lovers are inherent lovers of quality. To truly appreciate the feel of real paper at your fingertips, the weight of a bound tome in your hands, this requires an appreciation of the finer things in life. Great customer service – this is the type of quality that as a book lover, I truly appreciate. Bookplate Ink showed me this kind of quality, and I am very grateful. Last November, my mother dropped a hint that she would love to have a certain quote on a bookplate. Obviously this was a long, rambling quote that would not fit on any of the bookplate templates. Karen worked with me to create a beautiful bookplate that my (hard to please) mother absolutely loved! She sent me proofs and kept in constant contact until we created something perfect. Bookplate Ink is a wonderful company, clearly bound (pun intended!) by the same values of quality and dependability to which I aspire in my own work. Thank you, Bookplate Ink, for a truly unique and lasting gift!

I was delighted with my bookplates. The art and the fonts were so elegant that I will proudly place them in my books, particularly those that I lend to others. The phone call I received from the owner verifying a detail about my order really impressed me. I would recommend this company to anyone needing quality bookplates.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with our recent order of bookplates. They’re lovely! Thank you very much for the care taken to produce something of such good quality.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Karen. I requested a custom-made bookplate and, with fingers crossed, I asked if it could be done in just under a week. With only a poorly-lit snapshot to work from, Karen was able to duplicate the image, color, and design perfectly. Karen’s response time was remarkable. She put my perfectionist heart at ease with her timely and detailed replies. After a lovely exchange, the overall result was incredible. My very discerning friend was in awe, nearly speechless, when I presented her with Karen’s creation. Weeks later, friends were (and are!) still admiring the bookplates. I cannot stop singing Karen’s praises; she went above and beyond to execute my vision. We will be using these bookplates forever, especially as I intend to order another batch soon. They are true treasures.

After failing miserably to get a custom ex libris stamp to work, I submitted my original artwork to Bookplate Ink. The results were superb, and I couldn’t be happier. No fumbling with inks or glues, no worrying about applying equal pressure — the bookplates are perfect every time. My friends and colleagues are as impressed with the quality of the images as I am. Being acid-free and archival quality, I’ve put bookplates on all of my antiquarian books. Karen was a pleasure to work with, and I’ll certainly be ordering again as my collection grows! Thanks again, Bookplate Ink!
Brett D. Hirsch, University of Western Australia
I truly love your bookplates. I read extensively and just happened to come across an article describing a little history of bookplates. When I investigated further I found your business and was enthralled by your work. I have a great number of books in my house and have been applying your bookplates since I started (about 100 or so ago). I have shown my friends and, of course, when they are at my house and pick up a book, they see your bookplates. Although I don’t collect books of the “antiquity/expensive” types, I believe they add such a personal, beautiful and historical component to my books.

This is just to let you know that my bookplates arrived this morning. They are perfect and exactly what I wanted. The custom image I provided looks excellent on the finished product. Thanks for a great job! I would certainly order from you again and will be sure to mention Bookplate Ink to all my friends and family.

I ordered book plates to use as a prize giveaway for my new book. I can’t say enough how fantastic Bookplate Ink has been to work with. Not only did I work with a real, live person who knew a LOT about book plates, she walked me through the steps I needed to take to make this book plate work, given the complexity of the design. (How do you make a book plate match perfectly the color of the endsheets of a book the printer’s never even seen?) The product itself is a lot higher-quality than I was expecting — the paper seems durable, and it comes with a peel-off backing and self-adhesive label. So much easier than the bookplates I remember from when I was a kid. Authors, I can highly recommend this company for bookplate swag.

I received my bookplates this morning and they are just perfect! I will be proud to have these placed in the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University library in memory of my dear husband, John. I was really grateful for your suggestions on typeset to make his name stand out. I also appreciate that you did exactly what you said you’d do, when you said you would, which is rare today. Thank you!

After a bit of Internet research on bookplate vendors, we decided on Bookplate Ink to fill our business need for custom bookplates. The online shopping experience was easy, customer service by phone and email (including revisions and final proof approval) was excellent, and the finished products outstanding! If you’re seeking high quality for a reasonable cost, Bookplate Ink can’t be beat!

My marketing department had a last-minute event, and Bookplate Ink saved the day with their prompt and polite service. Within days a beautiful bookplate on luxurious cream stock with die-cut rounded edges was delivered across country to the bookstore where our author was doing a signing. We got the credit for looking good with the fast and beautiful bookplates–and we couldn’t have found a better company for the job! Thank you Karen and all at Bookplate Ink.

Just wanted to drop a short note of appreciation for the rapid and resourceful assistance provided by Karen Gardner, in placing a difficult although small order for the necessary bookplates needed to honor a family’s request to donate a number of books to the nursing/rehab facility that so helped to enhance the final days of their dear mother.
It is, indeed, a most respectable and admirable method to honor one’s passing and one that will continue on through time. I would suggest that anyone wanting to follow a similar path would be very well served to contact Bookplate Ink and allow them to offer what is a most significant and very professional method to accomplish this difficult task. You will be very well served! Thanks once again Bookplate Ink.

Can’t thank you enough for your patience, your effort and your time. The bookplates were perfect. The donors were thrilled, my client was thrilled and all the people who showed up to put them in the books were impressed with the quality of your product. Many many thanks.

I have just received my personalised bookplates and I am extremely pleased – thank you. Your company’s customer service, as demonstrated by asking for clarification, suggesting some other options, and letting me know when to expect them in Australia, was exemplary. I also believe I will get my loaned books returned more reliably. I will highly recommend your company to my other friends.

When I first started looking for bookplates I could sign for my non-local readers, I scoured the internet looking for unique or customizable designs that weren’t going to cost me a fortune. I wasn’t very impressed with most of what was out there–but then I found Bookplate Ink. Being the picky person I am, I wanted to design separate sets of bookplates that would custom match each of my novels’ covers, and even with larger-than-normal sizes and using full color, Bookplate Ink’s prices were more than reasonable. Their customer service is impeccable and they always play nice with my graphic designer, making the whole process smooth and uncomplicated. And the best part–the final products have been gorgeous! High quality paper, vibrant colors, and I don’t have to spend a huge chunk of my advance just to buy them. I highly recommend Bookplate Ink.

I originally found you online, but this is my third order, and I’ve got more friends having babies soon!! This is my favorite baby gift — a few classic books with labels inside, and the rest in a lovely box. Just perfect.

I wish to provide a brief letter of recommendation for bookplateink.com. I am the owner of a well known private bible foundation that features some of the rarest English translations of the bible in the world. Obviously, when selecting a book plate for the purpose of provenance the key for me is to insure the paper used is acid free and the ink and printing is of fine quality. I am very impressed with this organization and am proud to have placed a bookplate in such unique treasures as the “Printers issue of the first Geneva Bible”, the first English translation of the complete bible by William Tyndale and the first King James Bible “HE” version just to name a few of my treasures. I recommend this organization without reservation.
Sincerely,
Charles Payette
For our Holiday Party this year we gave our architecture school faculty and staff sketchbooks—a common and often used accessory. Since the books were otherwise plain, we used bookplates to create a message and indicate our school affiliation. They were a big hit. As important, the service we received from Bookplate Ink was excellent. It was focused and attentive, clearly offering the kind of personal attention that we all crave these days. Everything was done as we requested, with regular communication to be sure our specs were being met. The final product was beautiful, delivered within our deadline, and the entire experience was positive. I heartily recommend Bookplate Ink!

Thank you, Bookplate Ink, for the beautiful and unique bookplates! I was so very happy with the quality of your product, the incredible customer service (how nice to work with such a responsive *human* these days!), and the speed of delivery. I gave your bookplates to my former teacher who was being inducted into our high school’s Hall of Fame after 36 years of service — she was thrilled, and thought the pattern was absolutely beautiful! Her thank you note reads: “I just love the charming bookplates which will grace my most-loved books.” Thank you for such an occasion-appropriate gift and for being such fun to work with — I’ll be back!

I don’t know that I ever thanked you properly for the BEAUTIFUL printing of our bookplates. The bookplates have all been put in, they look FABULOUS and we are VERY pleased. You do great work, and I am recommending Bookplate Ink to everyone I know who needs bookplates! Thank you VERY, VERY much.

We received the bookplates for the hymnals that we donated in memory of our son, Thomas, right on schedule. They are gorgeous…beautifully done, crisp, clean and visually elegant. They look perfect in the hymnals that will be used in the new chapel at his school. The chapel is stunning, with carved wooden pews, stained glass that is meticulously done, tile and dark cherry wood panelling. It has a masculine, quiet but commanding look. So the bookplates had to be “just right” with a strong but subtle look, as they will be seen by the whole school every day at mass. They will also be seen by parents, visiting lecturers and guests, dignitaries, famous authors, ambassadors…and most importantly, boys and young men who were like brothers to our son. He had a lot of friends who loved him dearly and miss him terribly as they were all just about to graduate together when he was killed.
So – these bookplates are kind of a big deal and they are perfect. We wanted them to be beautiful, strong and subtle so they would not overwhelm or overpower, but be a quiet reminder of our beautiful boy. So, now when the students, alumni, teachers, etc. attend mass in the chapel, they will think of our son while they are praying, singing or just sitting.
Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
Art and Susan Carroll
Thank you for the beautiful bookplates; they were the perfect gift for our young friends next door, who are eager new readers. Bookplate Ink offers a wonderful selection–I even found the beloved bookplate design my parents had given me as a child! I especially appreciated your prompt response to all my queries, and I admire the way you handled all our transactions in a way that was both professional and personal. Your commitment to providing a quality product and excellent customer service is obvious—it’s a pleasure to do business with someone who willingly puts extra time and consideration into each purchase. I’m so glad I read that article in the “Wall Street Journal” singing your praises. They are well-deserved. Can’t wait to recommend you to my friends and family!

I just received the bookplates today and couldn’t wait to open them! THEY ARE GORGEOUS!!!! I am so excited….with our school mascot being a mustang the design is perfect and will be a fabulous prize as part of our event this year. I cannot wait to bring these to school tomorrow to show everyone! This summer I know I will be ordering ones for my own personal library. The artwork is beautiful, and I was so happy that they were individually boxed rather than on a roll!!! You’ve got a big fan here in Colorado- and I know lots of book lovers to pass along to you! Thanks again.

Our Upper Arlington Public Library needed bookplates to honor the donors of a special collection. I found Bookplateink.com on the Internet. We are very pleased with our new bookplates featuring the Whitmore tree and the name of our donors, Dr. and Mrs. Martin P. Sayers. The chocolate ink image on the ecru bookplate looks crisp and clean. Our new Sayers Collection bookplates made by Bookplateink.com are a big hit with patrons and staff.

FAQ
These are some of the questions that we are frequently asked. If you have a question that is not answered here, do not hesitate to contact us at info@bookplateink.com or 937-319-0067 or 866-483-3830.
Do you have bookplates for authors to sign?
Yes, we provide bookplates to many authors to use for book signings or to send to readers as a promotional item. The least expensive possibility is one of the border designs in the non-personalized category, M752NP, M758NP or N100NP. These designs leave plenty of room for an autograph and personal note from the author. Alternatively, many writers order one of our border designs and have their name printed at the top or bottom. For a more personalized look, we often print bookplates for authors with custom artwork, such as the artwork from the jacket cover of the book. Feel free to call or e-mail for more information.
Many of your designs have the words “ex libris” on them. What does this mean?
“Ex libris” is Latin, meaning literally “of books” or “from the library of.” The term has been associated so closely with bookplates that many people refer to bookplates as “ex libris.”
How are the bookplates packaged?
Orders of 50, 100, 200 and 300 bookplates are packaged in attractive gift boxes. Our gift boxes have a white cardboard bottom and an attractive white cardboard top. An example is shown in the images on our home page. Larger orders are usually shipped in a white corrugated cardboard box. If you would like gift boxes with your larger orders, please let us know in the comments section when you have placed your order.
I am ordering bookplates as a gift. Will cost information be included with the order?
We do not include billing or payment information with the bookplates when they are shipped.
My order is being shipped directly to the gift recipient. Can I have a gift note included?
Yes, when requested, we include a gift tag on the top of the bookplate box. You will find a section in the ordering process which allows you to specify the name and gift message desired.
Do you have designs that are not shown on the website?
Yes, we have an archive of quite a few bookplate designs from the Antioch Company that are no longer in print. If you are looking for a particular design, perhaps one you had years ago, contact us and we will see if we can locate it and re-print it for you.
Can you re-print the bookplates I’ve been using for years?
Yes, if you send us a clean, clear print of a bookplate, we can most likely re-print it for you. You can mail a paper copy or e-mail a digital file.
Can any of your designs be altered?
We are sometimes able to alter our designs to accommodate customers’ wishes. This includes enlarging or shrinking designs and changing the text. This is possible on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the design and the request. Please contact us for more information.
Can I have bookplates made in any other sizes?
We have the capability to print bookplates with custom artwork in many sizes and dimensions. Costs will vary, depending upon the amount of paper needed. Some of our own designs lend themselves to being printed in other sizes as well, but not all.
There are so many wonderful designs available. Is it possible to place an order with a selection of designs?
It is possible to do this, however, it is much more time-consuming and labor-intensive for us. It is also not possible to place such an order directly on the website. If you’re interested in this option, please e-mail Karen at kgardner@bookplateink.com. She will discuss your options and give you a price quote.

About Us
Welcome to Bookplate Ink, where we take pride in providing personalized bookplates to satisfied customers throughout the world. Bookplates are decorative stickers that are placed on the inside cover of books to identify ownership. As many include the text “ex libris,” which is Latin for “from the library of,” bookplate labels are also known as ex libris.
A Brief History
Located in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Bookplate Ink has been personalizing designs from The Antioch Company, formerly known as the Antioch Bookplate Company, since the early 1980s. Continuing this tradition, Bookplate Ink offers a comprehensive selection of classic Antioch Bookplate designs and offers many ex libris designs no longer available elsewhere.
The Antioch Bookplate Company, once the largest manufacturer of book-related products, began as a resourceful response by two students working in the college print shop at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Ernest Morgan and Walter Kahoe noticed the barrels of paper scraps left behind in the printing process and wanted to find a use for the material. As part of Antioch College’s renowned cooperative education program, they began printing decorative ex libris designs on the scrap paper after hours. With permission from the college, they named their venture the Antioch Bookplate Company and Morgan began hitchhiking around the country selling the bookplates. Kahoe later sold his interest in the business to Morgan for two hundred dollars, and Morgan went on to expand the business, while still attending college.
The Antioch Bookplate Company continued to grow in the next decades, with Ernest Morgan adding artwork from well-known artists such as Rockwell Kent, Daniel Burne Jones and Dutch woodcut artist Thijs Mauve. Antioch also acquired other companies — such as the Etchcraft Company — and their designs. Sales climbed as the Antioch Bookplate Company sold to more and more dealers around the world. In 1971, Ernest Morgan’s son, Lee Morgan, officially took over as president of the company.
Since its early days, the Antioch Bookplate Company offered personalized ex libris to customers. The company would print the customers’ names on any of the designs in their catalog, and would print bookplates with custom artwork provided by customers. Personalized designs were kept on file so that customers could reorder in later years. With a focus increasingly geared towards sales through dealers in later years, this portion of the company was no longer an asset. Lee Morgan forged a business agreement with the small local newspaper, the Yellow Springs News. News publisher Ken Champney agreed to continue printing personalized ex libris for customers and acquired many Antioch designs.
Bookplate Ink owner Karen Gardner came to the Yellow Springs News in 1990. Overseeing the bookplate printing business — then known as My Own Bookplate — was quickly one of her responsibilities. Fascinated with the ex libris designs, she continued expanding the business after becoming a co-owner of the newspaper in 1991. Gardner separated from daily duties at the Yellow Springs News in 2004 and devoted herself to the bookplate business, now known as Bookplate Ink, full time.
Sales for Bookplate Ink increased with the popularity of Internet shopping. With overseas shipping and credit card processing, Bookplate Ink ships to customers throughout the world, including many popular authors using the bookplates for signing. In 2008, the Antioch Company discontinued printing and selling bookplates and then closed. As many former customers are still devoted to the ex libris design they have used in their books for years, Bookplate Ink has expanded its inventory to include many bookplates that had been taken out of print, including those with artwork by Rockwell Kent, Dan Burne Jones, Owen Wise, Benton Ferguson, Lynd Ward, Robert Whitmore, and other well-known artists from years past.
In recent years, Bookplate Ink has been pleased to be able to offer new designs by contemporary artists, including Evelia, Jennifer Berman and Jim Harris.
The Many Uses of Bookplates
Bookplates are a useful and attractive way to identify the books in your personal, public, university, professional, or religious library. They lend a personal touch to your books and ensure they are returned to you safely.
Our ex libris, while reasonably priced, are custom printed on high quality, self-adhesive, uncoated (non-glossy) paper. No messy paste or glue is necessary, and our ex libris are acid-free and archival quality. Bookplate Ink also specializes in printing bookplates from original artwork or logos. Custom designs may be sent to us camera ready or we can design a bookplate from artwork you provide. Your company or school may want a bookplate with its own logo included in the design. Or perhaps you are an author, and would like to use bookplates with your own artwork to offer autographed copies of your books.
Personalized bookplates are a treasured gift. Perfect for young readers, personalized bookplates encourage children to value their books. Ex libris designs are also wonderful gifts for baby and wedding showers, bar or bat mitzvahs, birthdays, graduations, and holidays. A gift card can be included in your order upon request.
Feel free to call us at 937-319-0067 (local) or 866-483-3830 (toll free) or email us if you have any questions or comments about our bookplates.
Bookplate Ink is grateful to the Yellow Springs Historical Society for much of the information included on the website regarding designs from the Antioch Bookplate Company. Special thanks to Rebecca Eshliman, former employee of the Antioch Company and member of the YS Historical Society, for her tireless work and incredible helpfulness in providing information for this website.
Exquisite Venitian Library
This past August, my husband and I had the good fortune to travel to Europe. We spent a week in Lucerne, Switzerland, attending spectaular concerts at the renowned Lucerne Music Festival and hiking in the Alps with friends. After traveling by train to Italy, we visited Lucca, Florence and Cinque Terra, walking for miles, and loving the history and beauty of the area.
From there, we took the train to Venice, where we took in many of the wonderful museums and explored the city. One of the museums we visited was the Museo Correr in Venice, Italy. The Correr sits directly across Piazza San Marco from Basilica San Marco, and is steps away from the Grand Canal. There is an awe-inspiring amount of history and culture in just this one small area but I am going to focus on one exhibit in the Correr.
Within the museum is the Pisani Library, a room filled with beautiful walnut bookcases that came from the Pisani family palace at San Vidal. The Pisanis, an aristocratic family in Venice from the 12th to 18th centuries, were an important influence on the culture and politics of the time. According to the Museo Correr, they were “the first to set up what might be called a library-museum, in an attempt to endow the city’s publishing industry with its own aura of grandeur and munificent service to the State.”
The bookcases today are filled with “rare manuscripts and printed works, dating from the early Sixteenth Century to the end of the Eighteenth.” Surrounding the shelves are display cases with beautiful books from the 1500-1600s.
The chandelier hanging above was made from Murano glass in the 1700s. Murano is a series of small islands just outside of Venice and has been home to glass-making since 1291, when the glassmakers of Venice were forced to move there due to fear of fire within the city and its wood buildings.
It was fascinating and awe-inspiring to view the intricate artwork in books from hundreds of years ago. I’m grateful that people such as the Pisani family valued their libraries and preserved the world’s heritage through books. During this “digital age,” let’s not forget the importance and endurance of the printed page.
Bookplates for authors 101
Although bookplates have traditionally been used to identify one’s books in a personal library, many authors order bookplates from Bookplate Ink to use for book signings and as a promotional tool and thank you gift to their readers, so I thought it might be helpful to new authors (and seasoned authors!) to show some possibilities.
One popular option is to have bookplates printed with custom artwork from your book(s). Some authors have bookplates with the artwork from the jacket cover of the book at the top of the bookplate or as the background for the entire bookplate. Sometimes artwork related to one element or character of the book is used, along with the author’s name and/or website.
New York Times bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater has used more than one design for her young adult Raven Cycle series. Maggie posts photos and offers signed bookplates through her website, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Fountain Bookstore. We have seen more than one tweet with a photo from an excited reader who just bought one of her books and received a signed bookplate. Shown here is one of the bookplates Stiefvater created for her Raven Cycle series.
Brenna Yovanoff is another young adult fiction writer
who recently ordered bookplates for her new book, Places No One Knows, and posted a photo on Instagram. The book will be released later this month, but those who pre-order through the Tattered Cover Book Store will receive a free signed bookplate. Many authors use a signed bookplate as an incentive for pre-orders.
Bookplate Ink has also printed bookplates for
New York Times bestseller Garth Stein. His latest bookplate is a good example of a design useful for an author who wants a bookplate that encompasses all of his or her published books. As you can see, the jacket covers of his books are shown at the top along with his photo, while his website address is at the bottom of the bookplate.
If you’re looking for a simpler and more affordable option, another possibility is one of our non-personalized border designs. These bookplates are printed on a non-glossy, cream colored paper and look very classy. At 3×4 inches, they have plenty of room for your signature and a short message. As they’re pre-printed and we keep them in stock, they ship quickly and are less expensive than custom bookplates. Shown here is one of our most popular border designs, N100. It is available as both a non-personalized bookplate or a custom printed bookplate with the text of your choice.
For a more personalized look, many authors order one of our many border designs and have the bookplates custom printed with their name, website address and/or book title. We can also add artwork or a logo to any of our border designs.
There are many possibilities regarding styles and sizes of bookplates. If you have any questions, feel free to call 866-483-3830 or e-mail info@bookplateink.com.
New York City Library
My husband and I recently spent a few days in New York City, visiting our son. In addition to visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art (both of which I heartily recommend), we took a tour of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building of the New York Public Library. What a wonderful experience! And free!
The tour was given by a vivacious, enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteer, who brought amazing history to life throughout the library. The building was constructed on the foundation of a reservoir, with the cornerstone laid in 1902.
Before you even enter the building, you are greeted by two iconic statues. The majestic lions, nicknamed Patience and Virtue, are made of a rose-colored marble. Once inside the front lobby, the gorgeous huge front windows are worth turning around to view.
The first room we visited was the Dewitt Wallace Periodical Room. According to the tour guide, DeWitt and Lila Bell Wallace spent many hours reading and cultivating articles from the Library’s collection before founding the Reader’s Digest Magazine in 1922. The Wallaces gave generously after becoming wealthy and The Wallace Foundation funded the restoration in 1983 of The Periodical Room that served as their informal editorial office. The ornate ceiling looks like wood but is actually plaster. The beautiful murals are described in detail on the library website.
Another highlight of the tour was the Gutenberg Bible on display upstairs. Johannes Gutenberg was the first European to use movable metal type in the production of books, a much faster system than handwriting or woodblock print. The New York Public Library’s copy of the Gutenberg Bible, one of only about 180 produced, was donated by James Lenox, who was one of the co-founders of the library.
Surrounding the Gutenberg Bible is a set of four arched murals called The Story of the Recorded Word. These murals, created between 1938 to 1942, were part of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. The first mural shows Moses with the Ten Commandments, as depicted in Exodus of the Old Testament; in the second a monk from the Middle Ages copies a manuscript; the third mural shows Gutenberg with a proof of his Bible; and the fourth depicts Ottmar Mergenthaler at a linotype machine.
This is only a small portion of the artwork and information shown us during the tour. I would encourage you to visit yourself if you are able. For more information about the New York Public Library, visit their website at https://nyclib.com/.
