W33 – Scherenschnitte owl bookplate

Product Description

This bookplate is a Scherenschnitte design introduced by the Antioch Bookplate Company in the early 1960s. According to Antioch founder Ernest Morgan, this was a “scissor cut-out (Scherenschnitte) design by the Swiss artist Walter Von Gunten, the finest scherenschnitte artist of which we know. The von Gunten designs were originally produced by Von Gunten Originals of Madison, Wisconsin, on greeting cards.” This artwork was chosen in 2012 to print on a new paper/bamboo iPhone case from Twig honoring the band Wilco.

Bookplate Specs

This design is 4 inches high and 3 inches wide. It will be custom printed with the name or text of your choice on non-glossy, self-adhesive paper with a peel-off backing. The paper, adhesive, and ink are archival quality and acid-free. Unless otherwise requested, these are printed on cream-colored paper, similar to what is shown here.  If you choose brown ink, both the artwork and your text will be printed in brown.
