W27 – Scherenschnitte birds bookplate
Product Description
This bookplate is one of two Scherenschnitte designs introduced by the Antioch Bookplate Company in the early 1960s. According to Antioch founder Ernest Morgan, this was a “scissor cut-out (Scherenschnitte) design by the Swiss artist, Walter Von Gunten, the finest scherenschnitte artist of which we know. The von Gunten designs were originally produced by Von Gunten Originals of Madison, Wisconsin, on greeting cards.” The “ex libris” text means “From the library of.” There is room for two lines of text, if needed.
