VS100 – Vintage classic Junge bookplate
Product Description
This bookplate, printed between 1926 and 1971 by the Antioch Bookplate Company, was designed by Carl Stephen Junge (1880–1972), an Art Deco illustrator, designer and painter whose artistic output included posters, book illustrations and typeface characters, in addition to bookplates. His early life and study took place in California; he later studied in London and Paris and finished at the Art Institute of Chicago. From Chicago he designed the bookplate work he did for Antioch Bookplate and private customers, including Woodrow Wilson. Antioch Bookplate Company co-founder Walter Kahoe designed the setting for the ornaments provided by Junge.
